As a huge fan of the original Resident Evil game (released in 1996), I can honestly say that the HD Remaster improved upon what was already a masterpiece. As many of you know, I played and completed the original '96 release with both Jill and Chris at least a dozen times as a kid. I literally knew every room of the mansion like the back of my hand. When the remake released on Nintendo GameCube in 2002, I was blown away by the way Capcom brought the game back to life. The graphics at the time were jaw-dropping - they still hold up well today. To add to this, the upgraded sound effects, improved voice acting and implementation of new rooms, enemies and puzzles made the remake a must-have. I did manage to play through the remake back in 2002 while borrowing a friend's GC. Fast-forward 13 years later, Capcom again decided to bring the original Resident Evil back to life with the 2015 release. The HD Remaster represents the ultimate version of this survival horror classic.
With the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake on the horizon, set to release in Jan 2019, I decided to do a longplay walkthrough of the first Resident Evil (PS4 version) for old times’ sake. Being that I haven't played any version of the first Resident Evil game since the 2002 GC remake, this should be a fun experience for both myself and you the viewer.
This is NOT a speedrun! This is a longplay walkthrough. I will add a speedrun video for both Jill and Chris in the near future. I will aim for a sub 3 hour run with each character. With that said, if you are new to RE, watching the longplay walkthrough is the ideal way to watch the game, as I go through all files/documents, search every room and solve puzzles in real-time at a steady, realistic pace that actually allows you to absorb the game's terrifying atmosphere.
